Starting January 1st, 2021 some content may not be available due to browsers either no longer supporting the Flash Player or blocking unsecure content. If you see some resources that are no longer available, know that our team of content and curriculum educators are constantly curating, contextualizing and replacing them with better and more secure resources. If users have bookmarked a resource, they will get an error indicating the resource is not available. Our content is dynamic and everchanging and our team is dedicated to making sure online security and privacy remain a top priority and any changes are a seamless experience.
icurio makes every effort to share relevant, engaging and media-rich content to its users. Use these guidelines and our System Check to ensure that your web browser as well as the recommended media players and plug-ins are up-to-date so that you may have the best possible experience.
About Flash-Based Content
Prior to December 1, 2020 approximately 15% of the resources included in icurio were Adobe Flash based. We have removed all of those resources and are augmenting our content collection with new, browser compliant, content.
Content Filtering
The following domains must be allowed for proper icurio operation.
- *.icurio.com — icurio product
- *.knov8.services — Knovation authentication services
- *.speechstream.net — Dictionary and Read Aloud features within icurio are provided by TextHelp
We suggest allowing the following domains, but these are not required for icurio operation.
- *.knovationlearning.com — Our corporate site
- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC47ZVeY-308Q4qHo5tI1aQA — Some video content for support and training is hosted with Knovation’s YouTube Channel.
Because each filtering device is different, please check with your filter vendor on updating. There should be an interface with the filter that allows you to list the websites or referrer information for the sites you want to allow.
Web Browsers
We recommend using web browsers for the supported operating systems listed below. Please use our System Check to ensure that your web browser up-to-date.
- Apple Safari, versions 8 and above
- Puffin Academy, version 4
- Apple Safari, versions 8 and above
- Google Chrome, versions 35 and above
- Mozilla Firefox, versions 35 and above
- Google Chrome, versions 35 and above
- Mozilla Firefox, versions 35 and above
- Microsoft Internet Explorer, versions 10 and 11
icurio may also work in older versions of the browsers listed, or in other browsers not listed, but these will not be tested and are not recommended.
Apple Safari, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox are designed to support all previous capabilities, and we will make every attempt to provide support of these releases within a reasonable time frame.
Microsoft Internet Explorer has the tendency to introduce new functionality which may have impact on previous capabilities. Knovation will review the impact of Internet Explorer releases and test support by the start of each school year.
Puffin Academy is the fastest mobile browser for K-12 education to support the use of Flash-based content. We have worked to provide icurio as an approved solution through this mobile application.

Security Notice About Apple QuickTime
Apple will no longer be providing security updates for QuickTime for Windows, leaving this software vulnerable to exploitation. Computers running QuickTime for Windows will continue to work after support ends. However, using unsupported software may increase the risks from viruses and other security threats. Potential negative consequences include loss of confidentiality, integrity, or availability of data, as well as damage to system resources or business assets. The only mitigation available is to uninstall QuickTime for Windows.
New versions of Windows since 2009 have included support for the key media formats, such as H.264 and AAC, that QuickTime 7 enabled. All current Windows web browsers support video without the need for browser plug-ins.
Note that this does not apply to QuickTime on Apple Mac OS X.
